Family-owned and operated

The Dickie family has been minding Perth’s trees for over 40 years

A Dickies crew on the job in a Perth garden

Back in the day

How Dickies began

Gary Dickie grew up in the bush, spending most of his time outdoors and climbing trees. Becoming an arborist might sound like an odd choice for someone who loves the natural environment, but the job is as much about caring for trees and helping them grow well in our suburbs as it is about removing the ones that are dangerous or in poor health.

Together with his wife, Judy, Gary built a reputation on hard work, reliability and good communication, and grew Dickies Tree Service into one of WA’s oldest and most established tree surgeon companies. Their son, Cameron, is now a key part of the team and runs the emergency call-outs. The company employs over 40 people today, and it is still family-owned and operated, with the same values it started with.

Nowadays

Seven crews out of Malaga

Alongside Gary’s experience, we have many long-term employees who have built their own skills through his knowledge. Our quoting team understands the difficulties in any project and makes sure the right people and equipment are assigned to do the job in the safest way.

We run seven field crews and a fleet of modern vehicles and equipment, all GPS-tracked, out of our Malaga depot. Our people are qualified arborists, tree climbers, HR truck drivers, and crane and HIAB operators, and we can provide traffic management when a job needs it. Safety is the first consideration on every task, for our team and for the public.
